Welcome to the Fabric Fun Craft Club!

Hello and welcome to Fabric Stash and the Fabric Fun Craft Club.

I’m Janet Warren, a keen sewer for many years.  I mostly make clothes, but I love to dabble in anything fabric-related.  My latest ‘craze’ is dyeing fabric with natural dyes.

Sewing, and crafting generally, is enjoying a bit of a come-back at the moment. But how do you get started with a skills-based craft if you don’t know where to start and don’t know anyone who can help?

Probably the best way is to join a class or go to a workshop. But that isn’t always possible.

There are lots of videos and tutorials on the internet, or you can buy a book. But what happens if you don’t understand one of the instructions? Or you go wrong and don’t know what you’ve done?

In response to those problems, I started the Fabric Fun Craft Club, an internet-based club, but with live tutorials. We ‘meet’ once a month, originally  in a private Facebook group, but now on Zoom. You sign up for that month’s club (or, sometimes, 2 months at a time, with the second month being a follow-on to the first.) I send you a box containing everything you need to make that month’s projects, so you don’t need to source items, or buy a large quantity of something, just to try it out.

Then, on club night, I go through how to make the project. I show you all the techniques you need. You can ask questions, or ask me to explain something again. After the club night, the tutorial videos are transferred to Teachable, where you have unlimited access, so you can watch them again if you need to. You will also find the written instructions, lists of places to buy further supplies, and anything else useful you may need. There’s no subscription, so you can just sign up to the projects that appeal to you. They cover a wide variety of fabric-based crafts.

The blog is to give a wider look at fabric in all its guises. Over the coming months, I’ll look at how different fabrics are made, how they’re used (which will sometimes include fashion or history) and how you can use them.

Happy sewing – and reading!
