Have you ever thought about making a rag rug?
This is a very old craft, and probably one of the earliest forms of upcycling, when reusing old clothes was a necessity, long before it was fashionable!
One of the things I love about it is that it uses up the odd tiny scraps of fabric you have leftover from previous projects and / or uses up the good bits of otherwise worn out clothes. So each colour of your rug contains a memory. How great is that?
Once you know what you’re doing it’s a fairly easy craft, costs very little to do and is great as an on-going project for odd moments between projects, in front of the TV, etc.
So, what’s not to like about it?
For our club night on May 5th, we will make a quick project – a little daisy you can add to a cushion or bag, make into a brooch or whatever takes your fancy. You’ll leave with the skills you need to make a rug, seat pad, cushion cover, or…….
The sky’s the limit!
Sign up for a box for £12 including UK postage, containing everything you need except scissors, by clicking on the button below.
If you have the materials you need (hessian, white cotton, yellow jersey (or other fabrics) and a ‘proggy’ tool or latchet hook), then you can just sign up for club night by emailing me at janet@fabricstash.biz. (Or you can click on the button below to email, but it didn’t work last month, so I’m giving you the email address, just in case!) I’ll send an invoice for the club-night-only cost of £6 when I receive your email.
See you on May 5th, 8pm on Zoom!
